Social Darwinism in the Modern World
Today Social Darwinism is not as prevalent, but there are traces of it in modern politics and economics.
1. Conservative Social Darwinism
Many aspects of conservative political views are similar to the views of the Social Darwinists. The beliefs that the government should not supply too much in the way of health care, insurance, etc. correspond with the ideas that the weak or unfit should be left to themselves, and not pollute the human gene pool. Similarly, tax cuts for the wealthy are like rewards to the fit, who have taken advantage of their natural advantages to progress through society.
